Depending on your plan, you can host several websites in one cPanel account, or create subdomains such as blog.yourdomain.co.uk. In current versions of cPanel, both are managed from the Domains page.
Before you start
- The domain must be registered, and pointed to our servers, either by using our nameservers or by setting its A record to your server's IP address (shown under General Information on the cPanel home page).
- Check the Statistics panel to see how many domains your plan allows.
Add a domain or subdomain
- In cPanel, go to Domains › Domains.
- Click Create A New Domain.
- Enter the domain (e.g.
mysecondsite.co.uk) or subdomain (e.g.blog.yourdomain.co.uk). - Decide whether it should show the same website as your main domain:
- Separate website: untick Share document root. Check the Document Root field. cPanel suggests a folder such as
mysecondsite.co.uk, which is where you'll upload this site's files. - Same website (an alias): leave Share document root ticked.
- Separate website: untick Share document root. Check the Document Root field. cPanel suggests a folder such as
- Click Submit.
Note: On older versions of cPanel, you'll see separate Addon Domains and Subdomains icons instead. They do the same job.
After adding a domain
- SSL is issued automatically within a few hours once the domain points to us. See How to secure your website with SSL.
- You can now create email accounts for the new domain and install WordPress on it.
Removing a domain
Go to Domains › Domains, click Manage next to the domain, then Remove Domain.
Important: Removing a domain doesn't delete its files, but it does stop the website working and can remove the domain's email accounts. Back up first.
