An SSL certificate encrypts traffic to your website and shows the padlock in visitors' browsers. With Raleway hosting, free SSL certificates are issued and renewed automatically by cPanel's AutoSSL for every domain and subdomain that points to our servers.
Check your SSL status
- In cPanel, go to Security › SSL/TLS Status.
- Each domain is listed with its certificate status. A green padlock with AutoSSL Domain Validated means you're covered.
- If a domain is missing a certificate, click Run AutoSSL and wait a few minutes.
If AutoSSL fails

Add the missing DNS record, or ignore the warning if you don't use that address. |

| A CAA record excludes our certificate provider | Update or remove the CAA record in the Zone Editor. |
| Your domain uses Cloudflare | Set Cloudflare's SSL mode to Full (strict). If validation still fails, contact support. |
Force visitors onto HTTPS
- Go to Domains › Domains.
- Turn on Force HTTPS Redirect next to each domain. This is only available once the domain has a valid certificate.
Tip: On WordPress, also go to Settings › General and make sure both addresses start with
https://. If some images or styles don't load ("mixed content"), a plugin such as Better Search Replace can update old http:// links in your database.Installing a paid certificate
If you've bought a certificate (e.g. an OV or EV certificate):
- Generate a CSR in Security › SSL/TLS › Certificate Signing Requests (CSR) and send it to your certificate provider.
- When the certificate is issued, go to Security › SSL/TLS › Manage SSL sites.
- Choose the domain and paste in the Certificate (CRT). Click Autofill by Certificate to fill in the private key and CA bundle, then click Install Certificate.
Note: AutoSSL won't overwrite a valid paid certificate. Remember to renew it before it expires.
