Create an email forward Print

  • 0

A forwarder sends a copy of incoming mail from one address to another. For example, you could send [email protected] to your personal inbox. The forwarding address doesn't need its own mailbox.

Forward a single address

  1. In cPanel, go to Email › Forwarders.
  2. Click Add Forwarder.
  3. Enter the Address to Forward (e.g. sales) and pick the domain.
  4. Under Destination, choose Forward to Email Address and enter where the mail should go. You can forward to more than one address by creating a separate forwarder for each.
  5. Click Add Forwarder.

Forward an entire domain

To send all mail for one domain to the same username at another domain (e.g. anything @old-domain.co.uk to the same name @yourdomain.co.uk), click Add Domain Forwarder on the Forwarders page.

The default (catch-all) address

Email › Default Address controls what happens to mail sent to addresses that don't exist on your domain. We recommend Discard the email while your server processes it by SMTP time with an error message. Catch-all addresses attract large amounts of spam.

Important: Forwarders also forward spam. Forwarding lots of spam to Gmail, Outlook.com or similar providers can cause them to reject or delay your mail. Turn on spam filtering (see How to manage spam filters). If you only need to read the mail elsewhere, it's often better to add the mailbox to your email app using IMAP.

Removing a forwarder

Go to Email › Forwarders, find the forwarder in the list and click Delete.
